Obverse description Central field features the heraldic coat of arms of Danzig (Gdańsk), a quartered shield bearing traditional civic emblems including a lion rampant and decorative devices rendered in relief. The legend DANZICA arcs along the upper rim, flanked on both sides by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars in the manner of the European Union coinage series. The inscription PROVE PROVA PROBE TEST ESSAI curves in smaller lettering beneath the upper rim within the inner circle, indicating a fantasy trial piece. The date 2005 appears in the lower field beneath the shield.

Additional information

Danzig ceased to exist as a political entity in 1945, absorbed into postwar Poland as Gdańsk. Any coin bearing a "City of Danzig" issuer attribution dated 2005 is a modern fantasy piece — privately produced with no legal tender status, no issuing authority, and no connection to the historical Free City of Danzig that operated from 1920 to 1939 under League of Nations protection.
