Obverse description The obverse depicts a stylised effigy of La Semeuse (The Sower), a celebrated allegorical figure originally designed by Oscar Roty, here reinterpreted in linear style by Laurent Jorio. The figure is shown striding to the left, sowing seeds against the wind. Twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union are arranged in a semicircle along the upper rim. The engraver's signature, country initials, and year of issue appear in the lower field.

Additional information

The "2nd map" designation refers to the revised eurozone map design introduced across all participating states in 2007, replacing the original "15 stars" reverse that had been used since the euro's launch in 1999. The change was prompted by the EU's 2004 enlargement — it was considered diplomatically untenable to continue issuing coins that effectively rendered ten new member states invisible.

France was among the last major eurozone issuers to complete the transition, and the Monnaie de Paris produced this type continuously through multiple presidential administrations without altering the national side.
