| Obverse description | Central device features the archiepiscopal coat of arms displayed within an ornate oval cartouche. Above the shield, a processional cross flanked by a cardinal's galero with six rows of tessellated pendant strings is prominently rendered. The circumferential Latin legend encircles the design, divided by the date 16-87 at the base, identifying the issuer as Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun. The field treatment and heraldic execution reflect the high baroque artistic conventions of the late seventeenth-century Salzburg mint. |
