Additional information

Aragatsotn is one of Armenia's ten administrative provinces (marzer), established in 1995 following the country's post-Soviet territorial reorganization. This coin belongs to a regional series issued by the Central Bank beginning in 2012 to mark each marz — an unusual approach to circulating coinage that effectively turned the 50 Dram denomination into a documentary record of administrative geography rather than a purely transactional object.

Brass plated steel replaced the earlier aluminum-bronze composition as production economics shifted following sustained inflation in the dram's early decades.
