Reverse description The reverse features a bold numeral '50' prominently displayed at the centre of a finely line-engraved circular field with a diagonally striated background. Beneath the numeral, the Armenian word 'ԴՐԱՄ' (Dram) is inscribed. Surrounding the inner circle is a decorative border composed of twelve alternating raised pointed motifs resembling stylised sunrays or geometric arrow-heads, creating a star-like pattern that fills the outer annular band to the coin's milled rim.

Additional information

Armenia's dram series was introduced in 1994 as the country rebuilt its monetary infrastructure following the Soviet collapse and a devastating war with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh that had left the economy in ruins. The 50 dram denomination in brass-plated steel replaced earlier aluminum and cupro-nickel issues as the central bank stabilized the currency through the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The steel core with brass plating was a practical response to persistent metal cost pressures — a compromise that kept production viable for a denomination too valuable to eliminate but too low to justify solid brass.
