| Obverse description | Central design features a standing uniformed soldier in full military dress and helmet, positioned before a large spread-winged Phoenix rising from stylized flames, symbolizing the rebirth of Greece under the military junta. The Phoenix dominates the field with its wings fully outstretched. The engraver's signature E. ΚΕΛΛΑΪΔΗΣ appears at lower right of the central device. The date legend is inscribed in two lines in the exergue: 21 ΑΠΡΙΛΙΟΥ above 1967, commemorating the date of the colonels' coup d'état. |
