Obverse description The national seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief and enclosed within a beaded inner border and an outer chain-link border. The seal features a traditional Marshallese sailing canoe, a fish, a sun rising above crossed sticks, and a frigate bird with outstretched wings at center, all above a compass star motif and a ribbon bearing the word SEAL. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs across the upper field, while the denomination $50 appears to the left and the date 1991 to the right. The Marshallese motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN runs along the lower border.
