Additional information

Issued in anticipation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted across South Africa, this piece is one of several small-format gold issues Namibia produced in the lead-up to the tournament — each tied to a specific host city. Bloemfontein's Free State Stadium hosted six group-stage matches and one round of sixteen during the competition, including the notorious 4–1 Germany versus England match that reignited decades of debate over goal-line technology.

Namibia's participation was purely commercial; the country did not qualify for the tournament.
