| Obverse description | The obverse features the official seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands rendered in high relief at center, depicting a frigate bird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese outrigger canoe sailing on stylized waves, flanked by palm trees to the left and a coconut branch to the right, with a radiant sun above. Crossed traditional navigational stick charts appear in the lower field beneath the seal. The outer border is composed of a chain-link design. The legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination $50 appears at the lower left and the date 1991 at the lower right.
