Reverse description The reverse presents a dynamic allegorical depiction of the Roman god Mercury in flight, rendered in selective gold gilding against a deeply mirrored proof field representing a star-filled celestial background. The winged deity, adorned with his characteristic petasus helmet and talaria, is shown in a horizontal flying posture above a large textured globe representing the planet Mercury, holding his caduceus staff. The astrological symbol for the planet Mercury is prominently displayed in the lower left field, also gilt. The legend MERCURY appears at the lower left, the denomination $50 is inscribed at the bottom center, and the date 1994 is placed at the upper center of the field.
