| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau centered within the field, rendered as a heart-shaped heraldic shield depicting a traditional Palauan scene with a figure and marine elements, surmounted by a traditional canoe. Eight six-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle flanking the shield. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, with the inscription RAINBOWS END appearing within the lower portion of the shield. The Yamato was sunk on April 7, 1945, during Operation Ten-Go — a one-way mission with fuel enough only to reach Okinawa. She carried no air cover and was struck by an estimated eleven torpedoes and six bombs before the forward magazine detonated, killing roughly 2,740 of her 2,778-man crew. The wreck lies in two main sections about 290 meters down in the East China Sea, located and photographed by Japanese survey teams in 1985.
