Palau has issued large-format kilo silver pieces under its licensing agreements with the Coin Invest Trust (CIT) and other European minting houses for decades — the country's coin program is operated almost entirely offshore, with no meaningful domestic circulation intended. The Isfahan issue belongs to a series celebrating Persian architectural heritage, a subject with no political or economic connection to Palau whatsoever.
The choice of Isfahan is historically pointed: the city reached its architectural peak under Shah Abbas I in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, when the Safavid court relocated there and initiated the construction projects that define it today.
