Reverse description The reverse features the iconic Canadian maple leaf in its classic bullion design, rendered against a radial line background that is characteristic of the Maple Leaf bullion series. The leaf is centrally positioned and encircled by inscriptions denoting the coin's purity and metal content. A small maple leaf security mark appears below the central device, incorporating the last two digits of the year of issue engraved within it as an anti-counterfeiting feature.

Additional information

Canada's platinum maple leaf program dates to 1988, making it one of the earliest sovereign platinum bullion series issued anywhere — predating the American Platinum Eagle by nearly a decade. The 2023 issue carries Elizabeth II's effigy despite her death in September 2022, as die preparation and striking schedules for bullion programs of this volume meant the transition to Charles III's portrait could not be completed in time for the full annual run.
