Additional information

The Maple Leaf bullion series has been struck in .9999 fine silver since 1988, making it one of the earliest government-issued coins to achieve four-nines purity at scale. The Royal Canadian Mint's ability to refine silver to that standard was a direct result of infrastructure built around Canada's dominant position in global silver mining — the country ranked among the world's top producers through much of the twentieth century.

Elizabeth II's name appears on this 2023 issue despite her death in September 2022, as the RCM continued striking coins bearing her effigy through existing die schedules before transitioning to Charles III.
