Obverse description The obverse features the official seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands rendered in high relief at center, depicting a traditional Marshallese sailing canoe on water, a frigate bird in flight, and a sun with radiating rays, all surrounded by symbolic elements including a blimp, palm trees, and a fishing net. The seal is inscribed with the word SEAL at its base within a rectangular cartouche. The legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs along the upper periphery, while the Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN curves along the lower periphery. The denomination $50 appears to the lower left and the date 1989 to the lower right, both flanking the central device. The entire design is framed by a decorative beaded chain border.
