Reverse description The reverse presents an allegorical composition inspired by classical cartographic imagery, dominated at the centre by a large gold-plated sun-face with radiating flame-like rays and an overlapping crescent moon, rendered in high relief with selective gold plating. Four wind personifications occupy the cardinal positions of the field: two winged male figures at the upper left and right blow gusts of wind while holding navigational instruments, while two female figures at the lower left and right exhale breath and gesture dramatically, all entwined with ropes and feathery foliage. A sailing vessel is depicted in the lower centre field against a stylised ocean surface, with a cartographic grid of rhumb lines and a globe projection engraved in the background. A gold-plated fleur-de-lis ornament crowns the composition at the top, and the engraver's initials RY appear in the lower centre field.
