Reverse description The reverse presents facing busts of two Saxon kings: Edward the Confessor (reigned 1042–1066) to the left, depicted bearded and wearing an ornate crown, and Harold II (reigned 1066) to the right, shown with a moustache and a crown with radiating points. The two effigies are enclosed within a raised circular arc, with the denomination 50 DOLLARS inscribed in the central field between them. The peripheral legend reads EDWARD THE CONFESSOR to the left and HAROLD · II · to the right, with the regnal dates · 1042 – 1066 · at the top and · 1066 · at the right; small cross pattée ornaments appear at the top right, top left area, and bottom of the border.
