Additional information

Niue's licensing agreements with foreign IP holders have produced some of the more unusual gold issues of the past two decades, and this piece — built around Dick Bruna's Miffy character — is among the earliest. Bruna, the Dutch illustrator, created the rabbit figure in 1955 for a picture book written for his son. The Niue program exploited the island's status as a Cook Islands-associated self-governing territory with its own issuing authority, a framework that has made it attractive to bullion program developers seeking sovereign backing without traditional mint infrastructure constraints.
