Obverse description Arnold Machin's youthful right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, dominates the obverse field against a deeply mirrored proof surface. The queen's tiara and elaborately styled hair are rendered in fine relief, with the draped neckline adding classical elegance to the portrait. The circumferential legend reads 'CAYMAN ISLANDS' to the left and 'ELIZABETH II' to the right, with the date '1979' appearing at the base flanked by two raised dots. The CHI mintmark, denoting the Valcambi SA mint, appears to the lower left of the effigy.
