Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, with a pearl drop earring and a beaded necklace visible at the truncation. The portrait is the third definitive effigy of the Queen, sculpted by Raphael David Maklouf, whose initials 'RDM' appear incuse on the truncation along with the 'PM' mintmark for the Pobjoy Mint. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left field and 'COOK ISLANDS' along the right, with the date '1990' displayed prominently at the base of the coin in the lower field.
