| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted with characteristic curled hair and a floral crown, occupying the centre of the field. The design employs a striking two-tone finish, with the portrait rendered in frosted relief against a partially mirror-polished, selectively darkened field. The legend ELIZABETH II and NIUE ISLAND arc around the upper periphery separated by a decorative floral ornament, while 50 DOLLARS and the date 2021 arc along the lower periphery, likewise punctuated by floral stops. The engraver's initials IRB appear on the truncation, and the Czech Mint mark is visible below the portrait. |

| Additional information |
Niue has been issuing gold commemoratives under licensing agreements with foreign bullion dealers since the 1990s, effectively functioning as a mint-for-hire territory whose coin program bears little relation to its actual economy or monetary needs. This Earhart piece is part of that machinery. Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific in July 1937 during her attempted circumnavigation, and the wreckage of her Lockheed Electra 10E has never been conclusively located despite multiple funded search expeditions, most recently by the TIGHAR organization.
