| Obverse description | The sixth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Jody Clark, occupies the central field in right-facing profile. The portrait depicts the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a pearl necklace, rendered with fine detail characteristic of Clark's contemporary style. The legend ELIZABETH II and AUSTRALIA arc around the upper periphery, separated by a beaded inner border. The denomination 50 DOLLARS appears along the lower arc, also within the beaded border. The engraver's initials JC appear discreetly on the truncation of the portrait. |
