Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing portrait, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a drop earring. The truncation of the bust bears the engraver's initials IRB. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II to the upper left and AUSTRALIA to the upper right, separated by a beaded border, with the denomination 50 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower arc.
