Reverse description The reverse features a dramatic pad-printed coloured depiction of a King Brown Snake (Pseudechis australis) coiled beside a clutch of eggs, the serpent's distinctive reddish-brown scales rendered in vivid polychrome colour contrasting against the mirrored platinum field. The encircling legend 'DISCOVER AUSTRALIA' arcs across the upper field, while '2009 KING BROWN SNAKE 1/2 OZ 9995 PLATINUM' is inscribed around the lower periphery. The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark appears at lower centre, adjacent to the snake's coils. The design is attributed to engraver Darryl Bellotti, whose initials 'DB' appear in the legend.
