| Obverse description | The quartered shield of the Niue coat of arms occupies the central field, surmounted by a royal crown. The four quarters display the Southern Cross stars, three sailing ships on a dark field, crossed hammer and pick, and a shell above wheat sheaves respectively. The shield is flanked on either side by a spray of silver fern fronds. The legend NIUE appears to the upper left and the date 1992 to the upper right, both following the curve of the rim. |
