Reverse description A traditional Tuvaluan thatched meeting house (maneapa) occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief amid a grove of tall coconut palms whose fronds arch gracefully over the structure. Small tropical foliage is rendered at the base of the composition, evoking the island landscape. The country name TUVALU and the date 1976 arc along the upper periphery, while the denomination FIFTY DOLLARS is inscribed in bold lettering along the lower arc. The whole is set against a deeply mirrored proof field with a reeded border.
