Obverse description The bimetallic obverse features the first effigy of King Charles III as monarch, sculpted by Darryl Bellotti, struck in the central .9999 fine gold insert. The uncrowned, bare-headed right-facing bust of the King is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and collar, occupying the full diameter of the gold center disc. The engraver's initials 'DT' appear discreetly in the lower field of the gold insert. The surrounding .9999 fine silver ring bears the legend 'CHARLES III AUSTRALIA' arching across the upper field and the denomination '50 DOLLARS' across the lower field, all in raised incuse-style lettering, with decorative bullet stops flanking the denomination.
