Fantasy notes — privately issued, never legal tender — occupy a niche that sits uncomfortably between numismatic art and novelty merchandise. This particular piece commemorates Benedict Arnold, the Continental Army general whose 1780 defection to the British remains the most notorious act of treason in American military history. Arnold's name was so thoroughly synonymous with betrayal that it entered common usage as a synonym for traitor within his own lifetime.

Mujand is a fictional issuing authority. No collector should mistake this for a genuine national emission.
