Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a green-toned intaglio vignette of the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, its distinctive geometric prismatic facade rendered in fine line engraving against a background of bauhinia foliage underprint. To the upper right, the Bank of China circular logo appears alongside the bilingual issuer name, with the denomination expressed in large Chinese characters and Roman numerals at centre-right; a multicolour optically variable device in the upper-right corner carries a stylised lion motif. The large numeral '50' in red and green occupies the lower centre, with the date, place of issue, and the Chief Executive's facsimile signature printed below.
