| Obverse description | A close-up frontal effigy of Liberty, modeled after the Statue of Liberty, occupies the center of the obverse, rendered in fine detail with her radiate crown and draped robe visible. The torch held aloft appears partially at the left field. The legend LIBERTY arcs across the upper periphery in large capital letters, with the date 2006 inscribed to the right of the effigy in the field. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears in three lines to the lower right, while E PLURIBUS UNUM curves along the lower left periphery. The design was engraved by John M. Mercanti and is distinguished by its highly polished, mirror-like field characteristic of proof and burnished strikes. |
