Reverse description The central device depicts a jubilant victory embrace, showing a uniformed naval serviceman lifting and kissing a woman in a dress, evoking the iconic V-J Day scene commemorating the end of World War II. The figures are rendered in high relief against a plain field. The word 'PEACE' arcs vertically along the left side of the field, while 'FIFTY DOLLARS' arcs along the right. The commemorative dates '1945' and '1995', separated by a small laurel sprig, appear to the right of the central group, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the end of the war.

Additional information

The Marshall Islands were among the most devastated Pacific territories of the Second World War, with Kwajalein and Eniwetok the sites of some of the bloodiest atoll fighting of the entire campaign. The 1995 anniversary issue was part of an extended commemorative program the Marshall Islands government ran through the 1990s, largely marketed to overseas collectors rather than domestic circulation — the republic's actual monetary infrastructure relied on U.S. dollars throughout.

KM#268 is one of dozens of types from this series, many sharing the same planchet specification.
