| Obverse description | A central design featuring two portraits in contrasting formats: a color photographic effigy of the reigning ruler H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum positioned prominently, alongside a black-and-white portrait of founding father H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The dual years 2021 and 1971 appear in the field, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the UAE's founding. The juxtaposition of color and monochrome imagery creates a visual link between past and present leadership. |

Issued to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the UAE's founding in 1971, this coin was released as part of a broader program of celebratory silver strikes authorized by the Central Bank. The federation itself was a negotiated compromise — Abu Dhabi and Dubai had competing visions for the union's structure, and the final seven-emirate configuration only solidified after Ras al-Khaimah joined in February 1972.
KM#130 sees relatively limited secondary market activity, as most examples move through official channels and gift sets rather than open circulation.
