| Obverse description | Draped bust of King Hussein bin Talal facing left, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. An Arabic legend arching around the upper periphery reads the full royal title of King Hussein bin Talal of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The denomination '٥٠ ديناراً' in Arabic and '50 DINARS' in Latin script appear below the effigy, with the legend 'THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN' completing the lower arc. |

| Additional information |
The piedfort format — double the standard thickness struck from the same dies — was almost exclusively a collector's instrument by the late twentieth century, adopted by mints seeking premium-tier revenue from a limited buyer pool. Jordan's Central Bank issued this piece to mark the fiftieth anniversary of independence from the British Mandate, which formally ended on 25 May 1946 when Abdullah I proclaimed the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan a fully sovereign state.
KM#P5 is catalogued among the piedfort proofs rather than the commemorative coin series proper, reflecting its distinct production status.
