Tunisia's 2008 50-dinar note arrived during a period of active modernization of the country's currency security architecture, though by international standards the protection package — watermark and thread only — remained relatively lean for a high-denomination note of that decade. Oberthur Fiduciaire, operating out of their Chantepie facility, had printed Tunisian notes across multiple series by this point, making them the de facto long-term supplier for the Banque Centrale.

Pick 91 superseded the earlier 50-dinar issues that dated back to the 1990s. The format here is notably tall and narrow relative to the denomination's regional peers.
