Obverse description Central vignette presents a portrait of Oswaldo Gonçalves Cruz (1872–1917), the renowned Brazilian physician and epidemiologist, with a microscope at left. A circular overprint stamp reading '50 CRUZADOS' is applied over the original '50 000 CRUZEIROS' face value, reflecting the 1986 monetary reform. Inscriptions include the issuing authority, denominations in both old and new currency, and facsimile signatures of the President of the National Monetary Council and the President of the Banco Central do Brasil.
