Nicaragua's 50 Córdobas of this series circulated through one of the most turbulent decades in the country's modern history, overlapping with the catastrophic 1972 Managua earthquake — which killed an estimated 10,000 people and effectively paralyzed the Somoza government's institutional credibility. De La Rue held the Banco Central printing contract continuously through this period, supplying notes even as the political situation deteriorated toward the 1979 Sandinista revolution.

Pick 130 was superseded relatively quickly. Post-revolution monetary reorganization rendered the entire pre-1979 series obsolete, and large quantities were officially withdrawn and destroyed.
