Obverse description A striding male figure, rendered in a dynamic, outstretched pose, is depicted superimposed over a stylized grid-pattern globe occupying the central field. The legend LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS arcs along the upper periphery, while CONVENCION INTERAMERICANA curves along the lower left and right portions of the border in two segments. The denomination 50 COLONES appears in large numerals and text across the lower portion of the field, with the numeral 50 prominently centered at the base of the globe design. A small rectangular maker's mark or die identifier is visible to the right of the globe. The overall design commemorates the Inter-American Convention on Human Rights.
