Obverse description The State Coat of Arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting the Paektu Mountain and a hydroelectric power station beneath radiating sun rays, all within a wreath of ears of rice tied at the base with a ribbon bearing an inscription, and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The legend 조선민주주의인민공화국 중앙은행 (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) arcs around the upper periphery in Korean script, with the word 견본 (Specimen) at the sides. The denomination 50 전 appears prominently at the bottom of the field, flanked by small decorative sprigs.
