Obverse description Laureate bust of Liberty facing left, wearing a laurel wreath with flowing ribbons, her hair elaborately dressed and gathered at the nape. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine classical detailing. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs around the upper periphery, with the Heaton mint initial H positioned to the right. A five-pointed star appears in the lower field beneath the truncation, all within a toothed border.
