Obverse description The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield charged with three ships and a chevron, supported by an ibis to the left and a scarlet macaw to the right, both standing on a grassy mount amid stylised waves. Above the shield rises a helmet surmounted by a coconut palm crest with a ship's wheel, flanked by two sprays of foliage. A scroll beneath the supporters bears the national motto TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE in relief. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1982 displayed in large numerals at the base of the field. The Franklin Mint mintmark FM appears below the shield, above the date.
