Additional information

The 1937 Canadian coinage series involved an unusually thorough design process ahead of George VI's coronation, during which the RCM produced pattern strikes in multiple metals to test both dies and planchets. Brass was not a candidate for circulation — these were working trials, not proposals for a new alloy. Very few examples across all denominations from this program are known to survive outside institutional collections.
