| Additional information |
Belize adopted a decimalized currency system in 1974, two years after gaining self-governance from Britain and a full decade before this coin was struck. The Central Bank itself was only established in 1982, making early-to-mid 1980s issues some of the first produced entirely under its direct authority rather than through arrangements with the East Caribbean Currency Authority.
