Tuvalu's wildlife coin programs are largely produced under license by the Perth Mint, which has handled Australian and Pacific territory issues of this kind since the 1980s. The polar bear subject has no geographic connection to Tuvalu — a low-lying atoll nation in the central Pacific whose own territorial waters sit nowhere near Arctic habitat — but Perth Mint issues routinely pair Pacific sovereign authorities with globally marketable wildlife themes to reach bullion and collector markets that a Tuvalu-branded coin alone could not sustain.
The .9999 fineness places this above standard sterling, matching Perth Mint's typical bullion-grade silver specification for the series.
