| Reverse description | The reverse displays a full-color applied image of Miga, one of the official mascots of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, depicted in dynamic skating pose while playing ice hockey. The stylized creature, combining elements of a mythical sea bear and the Vancouver Island marmot, is shown in vibrant orange, white, black, and green tones, wielding a hockey stick with a puck visible to the right in the field. The denomination 50 cents is inscribed in an arc along the upper portion of the field, while the legend Vancouver 2010 curves along the lower left, all set against a polished nickel-finished background. |

One of twelve coins in the Royal Canadian Mint's 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics mascot series, this piece features Miga — a fictional creature combining a Vancouver Island marmot with a killer whale, drawn from Squamish Nation oral tradition. The RCM issued the complete twelve-coin circulation set through face-value collector bags and rolls, meaning most examples were never spent. Miga was designed by artist Meghann O'Brien in collaboration with the Vancouver Organizing Committee.
