Reverse descriptionThe reverse recreates the motif of the 50-cent circulation coin designed by Canadian artist Alex Colville: a howling wolf seen from the side, sitting on its hind legs with its muzzle pointed skywards. The precise engraving captures the animal`s silhouette and the texture of its fur as it utters its howl in the wilderness. The motif is enhanced by gold plating applied to the wolf and the coin`s bead. Also engraved on the reverse are the face value `50 CENTS`, the word `CANADA` and the commemorative dates `1967-2017`.
