| Reverse description | The reverse faithfully recreates the iconic howling wolf motif originally designed by Canadian artist Alex Colville for the 1967 Canadian 50-cent circulation coin, here enlarged and rendered in high relief on a fine silver planchet. A wolf is depicted in profile, seated on its haunches with its muzzle raised skyward in mid-howl, its silhouette and fur texture rendered with exceptional engraving precision. Selective gold plating highlights the wolf figure and the encircling bead border, creating a dramatic contrast against the frosted silver field. The legend 'CANADA' appears above the central motif, with the denomination '50 CENTS' and the commemorative date range '1967-2017' completing the design. |
