Reverse description The reverse, engraved by Sheldon Beveridge, depicts a dynamic scene of five basketball players in period uniforms contesting for possession of the ball beneath a hoop and backboard, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the first international basketball game played in Canada. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery, with the dual dates 1939 and 1999 inscribed to the left of the central composition. The denomination 50 CENTS appears along the lower periphery, with the engraver's initials DC visible in the lower field to the right of centre.
