Reverse description The historic Canadian coat of arms, as used from 1921, occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield displaying the three golden lions of England, the red lion of Scotland, the golden Irish harp, and the French fleurs-de-lis, with a sprig of maple leaves in the base. Two crowned lions rampant serve as supporters, each bearing a lance with a heraldic banner — the Union Flag to the dexter and the fleurs-de-lis banner to the sinister. A St. Edward's Crown surmounts the shield. The denomination '50 CENTS' arcs along the upper legend, and 'CANADA' is inscribed in large letters along the lower periphery. The engravers' initials 'K G' appear in the field to either side of the shield.
