| Reverse description | The reverse displays the Royal Coat of Arms of Canada, as proclaimed by King George V on November 21, 1921, and subsequently updated in 1994. The shield is supported by a lion rampant or on the dexter and a unicorn argent on the sinister, with the motto ribbon 'A MARI USQUE AD MARE' below, translating as 'From Sea to Sea.' The face value '50 CENTS' appears prominently in the legend, flanked by the commemorative date range '1952-2002' marking the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II's reign. The Latin motto 'DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM,' meaning 'Desiring a Better Country,' also appears within the reverse inscription. The heraldic design is executed with fine detail appropriate to a commemorative issue. |
