| Obverse description | The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in right-facing portrait, rendered at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed with hair styled upward, and wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is the Susanna Blunt effigy, engraved by Susan Taylor, widely used on Canadian coinage from 2003 onward. The legend 'ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA' arcs along the upper periphery, with the denomination '50 CENTS' positioned below. The initials 'SB' appear near the truncation of the bust, attributing the design to Susanna Blunt. |
